Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh New Telugu Film Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu Movie Review:
In the last 25 years, no Telugu filmmaker or big actor has come forward to do a multi-starrer movie. Director Srikanth Addala and producer Dil Raju have done it and dared to bring two superstars (Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh) together on screen with Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (SVSC), which has hit the marquee today. The much-hyped movie, which had created huge expectations among the film goers, is really a wonderful flick that suits the image of the superstars and it is a big treat for their fans this Sankranthi.
Relangi Mavayya (Prakash Raj) is a person who is content with life, finds joy in simple things and gives importance to human relationships than materialistic things. He and his wife lead a calm and happy life in a village called Relangi in West Godavari district. They have a daughter and two sons – Peddodu (Venkatesh) and Chinnodu (Mahesh Babu). Peddodu (meaning elder one) is unemployed and gets angered easily. He has his maradalu Seetha (Anjali) at home who grows up believing him to be her husband. On the other hand, his handsome younger brother Chinnodu is well educated and resides in Hyderabad. Their family’s relative, a wealthy man (Rao Ramesh) constantly humiliates Relangi and their family members for not giving importance to riches. He has a daughter Geetha (Samantha), and she falls in love with Chinnodu. Due to Geetha’s father, the Relangi family goes through some problems and differences crop up between the brothers too. Rest of the film is all about how brothers overcome these differences.
As emotional elder brother, Venkatesh has delivered his best performance till date. He is at complete ease in sentimental scenes. His chemistry with Anjali is also good and that is one of the main attractions. As witty younger brother, Mahesh Babu has also done justice to his role. He impresses the film goers with his godavari district slang. His chemistry with Samantha is a treat to watch on screens. As siblings, he shares a great chemistry with Venkatesh and that is one of the main highlights in the film.
Anjali looks good as an innocent girl. She has enough screen space and she has used it to show acting skills. She will surely impress you with her innocent expressions. Samantha will also win your heart with your glamour. Her expressions in romantic scenes will haunt you even if you walk out of the theatre. Others like Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Rao Ramesh, Murali Mohan, Rohini Hattangadi, Ravi Babu and Tanikella Bharani have also delivered brilliant performances for their respective roles.
Technical and Other Departments:
On the technical front, Mickey J Meyer’s music and background score are the main highlights. His tunes like ‘Aaraduguluntada’, ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ and ‘Vaana Chinukulu’ are good to listen. KV Guhan’s cinematography is one of the strengths of the film. His rich and colourful picturisation helps the director to bring the emotions of different characters on screens. Srikanth Addala’s dailogues and Marthand K Venkatesh’s editing is are also commendable.
Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu is a complete family drama with a few commercial elements. The performances of Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh are the main attractions in the film. Srikanth Addala’s brilliant narration and dialogues, Mickey J Meyer’s melodious music, KV Guhan’s beautiful picturisation are its other highlights. What the film lacks is the absence of lead actors’ heroism and slow-paced narration in the second half. The movie narrates a simple and beautiful story, which revolves around a middle class family. The movie is all about brother sentiment. With his brilliant storytelling, Srikanth Addala has brought out the emotions between various characters in the family in a realistic way. The first half of the film is very interesting with few heart touching moments and songs. The second half is also good, but it falls short to catch up fast with the pace of the narration.
Overall, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu is a good family entertainer and it is good treat to this Sankranthi. Watch the film with your entire family to celebrate Sankranthi together.
