Raviteja and Sruthi Haasan New telugu Film Balupu Movie Review:

The film Balupu starring Ravi Teja, Shruti Hassan and Anjali in leads, is directed by Gopichnad Malineni and produced by Prasad V Potluri. Any film starring Ravi Teja has the reputation of being a guaranteed entertainer. The success of its audio has increased anticipation for the release of this film. Whether the film will live up to the expectations or not, we will have to see. Read the review of Balupu.Balupu starts off with our Mass Maharaja-Ravi Teja saving the damsel in distress, Lakshmi Rai in a big fight. Ravi Teja’s entry into the film is good and the dialogue, ‘Nenu casual gaa kodithene casuality loki veltaaru…Ade concentrate chesi kodite coma loke’, brought out the energy in the theaters that Ravi Teja’s film usually does. With dialogues like, ‘Kottaala..mimmalni kottaala…rendintilonoo punch untundiroy…,’ Ravi Teja is back with a bang this time. With repeated failures till now, it is refreshing to watch Ravi Teja at his best.

Ravi Teja is a bank recovery agent and leads a peaceful life with his father Prakash Raj in Bangalore. Unexpectedly he meets Shruti Haasan and her uncle Brahmanandam. Cheating naïve young men is what Shruti and her uncle are good at. Ravi Teja wants to teach them a lesson. As he does that he falls in love with her. Nasser ( Shruthi’s father) and Prakash Raj decide to get them married. Enters Ashutosh Rana and we come to know the buried past of Ravi Teja and Prakash Raj. What is that? Where does Anjali fit in? To know this you must watch Balupu.

Artists Performance:

Ravi Teja has two get-ups in the movie. Beared one for Anjali thread and a fresh look for Shruti Haasan’s thread. Ravi Teja is in his elements in this movie. He provides great entertainment with a well-conceived character and well-written dialogues. Ravi Teja is energetic in comedy and mass scenes. Ravi Teja has not been getting a right film in the past few years and Balupu will give morale boost and a well-deserving success to Ravi Teja. This is Shruti Haasan’s next release after Gabbar Singh and she provides fun in the film with glamor and verve. Anjali is the pretty good in a key role. Her strengths have always been spontaneity and fluency in contemporary Telugu.

She has used both these strengths in this movie. Lakshmi Rai has played the role of herself and she is used for introducing hero character and for the first song. Prakash Raj’s character has two shades and performed excellently. Brahmanandam has given very good entertainment with his inimitable Gangnam and Jumping Japang dance. He uses facebook and plays temple run on his iPad in this movie. Ashutosh Rana is good. Adivi Sesh has a small yet important part and he does justice. Prabhas Srinu does well as Adivi Sesh’s sidekick. Thagubothu Ramesh adds up to the momentum in the pre-climax episodes. Ali has another comedy role.

Technical and Other Departments:

The story of the film is not new. But the story writer (Bobby & Kona Venkat) added a new twist to it by playing with the names. It’s a formulaic story that guarantees success if executed well. The writing team has added nice entertainment quotient to the film by keeping the mass elements in tact. Direction by Gopichand Malineni is good and he has fair understanding of mass pulse.

Screenplay is neat and with an interesting interval block. Music by SS Thaman looks good on screen. Background music is neat. Dialogues by Kona Venkat are very good. They added a lot to the character of Balupu. There are many nicely written dialogues that entertain us. Cinematography by Jayanan Vincent is okay. Editing is neat. PVP – a highly successful serial entrepreneur has become one of the biggest financiers of South India and has produced his first straight Telugu film Balupu. He has selected a script that has something for everybody. Production values are excellent.

Movie Analysis:

First half of the film is entertaining. Second half has story, mass elements and emotions. The pre-climax and climax episodes are entertaining. Ravi Teja whose previous hit was released in January 2011 didn’t find success at box office despite having seven films in a span of 2 and half years. Balupu will provide oxygen to his career. Balupu has all ingredients (with a dominating portion of entertainment) to become a decent hit. You can watch it!!.

Final View:

Overall Balupu is a masala entertainer with good comedy. Ravi Teja is in his elements and definitely he is back! Glamour quotient of heroines and Brahmanandam’s superb comedy has also worked in favour of the movie. Go for its entertainment value.
