Angarag Mahanta Papon Biography:
Angarag Mahanta Papon was born November 25, 1975. He grew up in his hometown while studying at university and all the love of music was seen in childhood. His initial education was in the classical, folkloric and devotional music of India.
He learned to play various musical instruments, including table, khol, harmonium, and guitar. It covers a wide range of musical genres, including acoustic folk, ambient, and contemporary electronics. Then, as he finished his education, he sang a song in the Assamee song.
Soon followed other languages such as Tamil, Punjabi, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and Mishing. Some Bollywood films in which he was singing songs include Adhuri Hamari Kahani, Kya Dilli Kya Lahore, Lakshmi and Madras Café Barfi. The Barfi Kyon song was a great success over the Call Jiyein Kyun Dum Maro Dum in 2010 for his first album, which includes the first Junaki Raati in Assam, which was launched in 2004 to give a piece of music in a different style.
His second album, Sinaaki Osinaaki was released in 2009, was also part of a series of other artists’ albums and produced their first album of folk, including Bihu, who followed another named Gomsen and Phagunor Gaan found in West Assam. In 2007, the founding of an electronic merger group called Papon and The East India Company, which includes the votes and the 5 other members with different roles, was seen.
His band has played at various levels, including the SAARC Band Music Festival in Delhi, the Kovalam Literary Festival, the Eastwing Festival and others. He and his group also appeared on the BITS Pilani campus in 2016 with the Dhaka International Folk Festival.
Talking about his private life, he lives in Mumbai and is married to Shweta Mishra Mahanta. The couple has two children: his son and daughter, Puhor, known as Parijaat. His father is a well-known Assamese folk singer named Khagen Mahanta, who died in 2014.
For his awards, he has received numerous awards, including Big Asomiya Music Awards 2010 for “Ha Noi Ujai” – Raamdhenu, Prague Cine Awards 2012 Track Name – Raamdhenu as Best Singer, GIMA Awards 2012 for Best Pop Album titled What Happened So Far and Stardust Awards 2013 best singer Kyun in Bollywood movie Barfi and Moh Moh Ke Dhage “- Dum Laga Ke was named Haisha 7 and managed to get five of them.
Papon has won several awards in his career: – The best male singer in the “Prague Cine Prize” in 2012, Bhupen Hazarika Award for Best Male Singer, GIMA Awards for Best Pop Album of the Year for Her The Debut of Hindi Albums, the JD Annual Rock Awards for two categories and the Best Male Voice of the Year and Best Song of the Year.
